Hourcoin is a digital platform that uses a complementary currency to reward active citizenship; it builds on the traditional principles of timebanking and co-production, upscaling it with the use of the blockchain and online marketplace. Hourcoin values and rewards active citizenship leading to positive change at a grassroots level. It is a mechanism that enables people to priotitise being an active citizen by valueing and rewarding people's involvement in society. By getting involved, people can become central designers, decision makers and changemakers in their communities.

A New Way of Working with Volunteers
We need a new volunteer model that is open to everyone and values them differently. Our communities are full of untapped time, energy, skills and talents and people who are not experiencing life at it's fullest. It's so easy to find yourself lonely even if you live with people, or feel unconnected with the people who are all around you, your neighbours, your community members and the people who are already doing good work. Any of us who volunteer will know what a positive difference it makes to our lives and those who create the opportunities for volunteers to get engaged in doing great work know the value that has to others. Many millions of volunteers are creating social impact every day and we cannot value them enough.

- We offset our emissions by funding UK based carbon offset projects.
- Opportunities for our customers to offset the carbon that is generated to fund local projects.

Hourcoin is a brand of Timecentres UK Ltd which is a not-for-profit organisation based in the South Wales Valleys of the UK. All surpluses made from any of our activities including Hourcoin are invested back into the development of Hourcoin.
